Heck, my granny still has her stove-top from the 1960s in her small cabin by the lake and it's still working wonderfully. Not only to do they keep up to pace with all of the new (and now seemingly necessary features), but they are much less likely to break down. Fewer and fewer companies make quality products, and the Hotpoint electric ranges are still the workhorses that they have always been. Really, if you're really using your kitchen appliances, there is no reason to simply go for anything that looks nice. Go for something that makes an effort to combine style and function. And be certain it is a good product. From my experience, you can't go wrong with a GE Hotpoint range.
